Operationalizing Love in Akron, Ohio
Today, I had the pleasure of working with the Community Action Akron Summit Head Start team as they celebrated the beginning of a new program year.
But today did not start today.
Earlier this year, I delivered a virtual keynote and training to Head Start leaders through the Ohio Head Start Association, Inc.
And Ms. Glenda was there.
The message spoke to her, and she knew it was exactly what her team needed to start their program year strong.
She shared the experience with her organization and advocated to bring the work to her team.
So, today, we gathered at House Three Thirty, a venue of the LeBron James Family Foundation, in Akron, Ohio.
And for three hours, we worked together to operationalize our love for children.
We examined how love becomes visible in day-to-day practice through our actions, relationships, decisions, and systems.
We explored what mission-aligned collaboration looks like when the people surrounding children and families understand their individual and collective responsibilities.
From the time we started until the time we finished, the energy was top-tier!
And it was all hands on deck.
Even, Ms. Allyson the Vice President of Head Start/Early Childhood Programs and Head Start Director, pulled out her markers and poster board and worked right alongside her team.
By the end of our time together, spirits were high as the room committed to showing up as a Top-Notch Village™ for the children and families they serve.
Because the children belong to all of us.
They are our acorns.
We have been entrusted with helping them grow into the mighty, mighty oak trees they are destined to become—mighty oak trees that will one day give back to their communities.
This is how the Acorn Movement spreads.
One person experiences the message, understands what it could offer their village, and opens the door for others to experience it.
Today, that village was Community Action Akron Summit.
